Leave it to a legend to steal the spotlight at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue launch party.
On Thursday night, model Christie Brinkley arrived at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York City to celebrate the publication’s 60th anniversary edition, showing some serious leg in a red dress.
Her Norma Kamali gown ($225) had a thigh-high slit and extra-long, dramatic sleeves that reached the floor and billowed in the wind as Brinkley posed for the cameras.
Classic white pumps and gold earrings completed her look.
Brinkley’s glam was equally dramatic, as the famous blonde chose to wear her hair in voluminous waves that were parted to the side and added a coordinating red lip as the final touch.
For Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s monumental issue, Brinkley appears on one of the group covers, rocking a metallic dress alongside other legends like Martha Stewart, Tyra Banks, Chrissy Teigen and Kate Upton.
The mom of three took to Instagram to share the shot as well as the two other group covers, adding a heartfelt message to mark her eighth time fronting the bikini bible since her debut in 1975.
“I am grateful beyond measure for my many happy adventures with @si_swimsuit,” she wrote in the caption, noting how “lucky” she felt to get to know some of the women pictured.
“If someone came up to young permed sunburned me during my first photo shoot with the iconic magazine and whispered ‘they will still be inviting you to be in the picture at 70’, I would have laughed at them and called them crazy. But now I know that no one wants to become invisible because of our age, (or ethnicity, size, gender, or anything for that matter!) So thank you S.I. … you may just be 60, but you’re very smart for your age!”
Brinkley is no stranger to posing in a bikini, often sharing beachside shots on social media from her villa in Parrot Cay.
She even celebrated her 70th birthday by posting an ab-baring outfit photo, telling fans, “I’m finally happy with the person looking back at me.”
In March, the Bellissima Prosecco founder did share some harrowing news: She had been diagnosed with skin cancer, but thankfully it was caught early.
“The good news for you is that all of this can be avoided by being diligent with your sun protection!” the model told her fans after sharing photos of the removal process.
“I got serious a bit late so now for this ole mermaid/gardener, I’ll be slathering on my SPF 30, reapplying as needed, wearing long sleeves and a wide brim hat.”
