Julianne Hough chops off her hair for a ‘fresh start’: ‘Out with the old energy’

New year, new hair.

Julianne Hough proved she could do it all as she chopped off her hair ahead of the 2024 Creative Arts Emmys on Sunday.

The “Dancing with the Stars” host, 35, put her long blonde locks on full display while sitting in the salon chair in a video posted to Instagram Saturday.

She was handed the scissors by her stylist, the celebrity-favorite Riawna Capri, who cheered her on, as she took the first piece off.

“Oh, that’s so fun! I like this length,” Hough said as she continued cutting both sides shorter.

“This is the new way, guys. You come in and you cut your own hair. Well, at least I don’t second guess and I just go for it,” she continued.

Hough then stood up and showed off her shoulder-length “seven-minute haircut” along with her white turtle neck sweater and nude trousers.

The “Safe Haven” actress took to the caption to share how her new look reflects her latest “season in life.”

“Out with the old energy, and in with the new,” she wrote.

She explained that it had been “raining so hard” earlier in the day before “the sun was shining and there was a double rainbow,” symbolizing “cleansing” and “prosperity.”

“It made me start to think about the seasons of life, and the decisions we make as we progress,” Hough continued. “Hair is such an outward expression of what those decisions are . . . of the internal journeys that we go through.”

“It just felt like it was the right time to cut off some of the old energy and start fresh,” the professional dancer concluded.

Capri, who counts Selena Gomez, Paris Jackson, Aaron Rodgers and more as her clients, took over duties after the video cut off; Hough ended up with a chin-length bob and golden blond color that she debuted on the red carpet for the Creative Arts Emmys the following day.

She showed off her hair on social media Monday, writing “Keeping things short & sweet 😉.”

The “Footloose” star tucked her nearly ear-length hair behind her ears as the ends were slightly flipped as she wore an ab-baring plunge gown by Grace Ling.
