King Charles spotted going to church for the first time since starting cancer treatment

King Charles III has made his first public appearance since beginning cancer treatment.

The monarch was photographed alongside his wife, Queen Camilla as the two attended a church service at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, Norfolk.

Charles, 75, looked upbeat, as he smiled and waved at the photographers waiting outside.

They were accompanied by the Reverend Canon Dr. Paul Williams.

The public outing comes a day after the king — who had his coronation in May 2023 — thanked the public for their well-wishes and support in a statement released via Buckingham Palace Saturday.

“I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days,” Charles began. “As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.”

The statement went on to add that the monarch found it “equally heartening that by sharing his diagnosis, he has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organisations which support cancer patients and their families across the U.K. and wider world.”

“My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience,” he continued.

Charles’ cancer diagnosis was first revealed last Monday — one week after he underwent surgery for an enlarged prostate.

Buckingham Palace shared in an official statement that while Charles was undergoing treatment for a “benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”

They continued, “His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”

After the diagnosis was made public, Prince Harry jetted to the UK to be by his estranged father’s side.

The Duke of Sussex, 39, has had a rocky relationship with his father since stepping away from royal duties in 2020. Relations were further exacerbated with the release of Harry’s tell-all memoir, “Spare.”

Page Six exclusively reported that Harry, who was in London for less than 24 hours, spent 45 minutes alone with his father and is determined to mend their fractious relationship.

Buckingham Palace has not yet disclosed what kind of cancer the king was diagnosed with.
