Taylor Swift swaps plaid corset for sparkling UFO dress at VMAs 2024

Taylor Swift knows cosmic love — and cosmic fashion.

After walking the VMAs 2024 red carpet in a plaid punk-esque Dior dress, the pop star changed into a second out-of-this world look: a bejeweled custom Monse mini-dress embellished with a UFO design.

The intricate style featured leather buckles on the straps and what appears to be two men standing below the celestial ship — calling to mind her “Down Bad” lyrics and spaceship visuals from the Eras Tour.

Swift, 34, paired the asymmetrical mini with a Rainbow K Diamond Earring and the same buckled Stuart Weitzman thigh-high boots ($1,232) she wore earlier — further fueling fan theories that her “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” announcement could be on the way.

“We are getting REPUTATION TAYLOR’S VERSION,” one X (formerly Twitter) user theorized alongside snaps of the space-themed style, while a second added, “AND THE CLOWNING CONTINUES” along with “#Reputation.”

The “Midnights” hitmaker switched up her outfit before dancing and singing along to Katy Perry’s performance and giving the newly-minted Video Vangaurd winner a standing ovation.

The VMAs also served as Swift’s first public appearance since endorsing Kamala Harris for president — and her space-themed dress for the occasion came from the same label as Michelle Obama’s headline-making Democratic National convention look.

Swift leads this year’s VMA nominations with a grand total of 12 — including nods for most iconic performance (for her 2009 staging of “You Belong With Me”) and artist of the year.

She’s already taken home one moon-person statuette already, as she and Post Malone won Song of the Summer for their track “Fortnight.”

While the star reliably delivers in the VMA fashion department, it’s rare to see her slip into a second look; last year she stuck to her edgy black Atelier Versace gown throughout the night, while in 2022 she announced “Midnights” in a dazzling crystal-covered Oscar de la Renta design.

With a long way to go until midnight — and the end of this year’s ceremony — it remains to be seen whether any major announcements are written in the stars this time around.
